Every shortcut, on one page

These are the defaults. All of them are remappable in Settings › Shortcuts, so if one collides with something you already use, take it.

Learn three, get the rest free

⇧⌘4 for an area, ⇧⌘5 for a window, ⇧⌘R to record. Those three cover most days; the All-in-One overlay on ⇧⌘2 covers the rest without another shortcut to remember.

Retake instead of redo

⇧⌘Z shoots the last region again. Handy when you captured the right area at the wrong moment.

Freeze before you chase

Press F while selecting and the screen holds still, so menus, tooltips, and hover states stay put while you drag around them.

Snappyshot also honours the keys you would expect once a capture is on screen: esc cancels a selection, arrow keys nudge a pinned screenshot a pixel at a time, and ⇧⌘U clears every overlay at once when you need a clean screen in a hurry.
