Learn more about everything Snappyshot offers — capture, overlay, markup, recording, sharing, pin, history, and OCR.
Capture
Every shot starts from the menu bar.
Area, window, fullscreen, scrolling, OCR, All-in-One, MP4, and GIF live in one compact panel. Self-timer, freeze, Retina scale-down, and a hide-desktop option keep the frame clean before you click.
Quick Access
The overlay is the whole workflow.
After each shot a floating panel appears: copy, save, annotate, open Background Studio, pin, share a link, or drag the image into another app. Swipe it away, or restore it from History.
Markup
Point at the problem. Hide the rest.
Fourteen tools cover the usual bug report and the polished changelog screenshot: arrows, counters, spotlight, pixelate, blur, crop, and more.
Background Studio
Turn a raw grab into a post.
Ten built-in presets, padding, aspect, auto-balance, and a custom image so product shots look finished before they leave your Mac.
Recording
MP4 or GIF, then trim in place.
Record with FPS, cursor, system audio, microphone on macOS 15+, click ripples, keystrokes, and a camera bubble. Trim range, mute, and quality without exporting to another app.
Sharing
Links on storage you already own.
Connect anything that speaks the S3 API, or a custom upload endpoint. Snappyshot copies a public URL or a signed link that expires. Object keys carry a random token, so a URL cannot be edited into someone else’s capture.
On the Mac
Pin, history, OCR, and a clean desktop.
Keep a shot above other windows. Filter history by image, video, or GIF. Copy text and QR payloads on-device. Hide desktop icons and optionally swap wallpaper while you capture.
